The Blue Igloo Playgroup

A cooperative playgroup for children 6 months to 3 years old, meeting September through May in Washington, DC's Georgetown neighborhood.
Blue Igloo’s new Penguin Program offers afternoon activities and free-play sessions for children ages 6 months through 5 years. Six week sessions run from mid-September through May. Different classes will be offered each session. Registration is first-come, first-served.
Freeplay Fun
Enjoy playing and running in Blue Igloo’s matted indoor space, complete with transportation toys, foam climbers and dress-up clothes. This extended playtime at Blue Igloo allows time for you and your child to explore new toys and make new friends while enjoying a few teacher led activities!
Music Babies
Designed with our younger friends in mind. Music Babies will be a combination of activities designed with your child’s development in mind that focus on balance, tracking and—of course—music! A great opportunity to introduce your child to new sights, sounds and experiences! Bring a blanket for classtime.
FUNdamentals of Music and Movement
Our FUNdamentals classes will focus on the basic principles in music and movement. With weekly themes we will explore music and movement through the use of songs, instruments, books and games children learn basic music concepts while having tons of fun! This class is offered at different times to serve three different age groups—1-2 years, 2 and 3 year olds and 3-5 years.
Arts Exploration
Our art exploration will focus on colors through the use of songs, books and process based art! Children will learn colors and alert their senses while mixing paint, glue and playdough without clean-up for Mom! This class is designed for children who are no longer mouthing objects to explore the world of art! Aprons will be available but all attendees should wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy!

Cost
Each class in a given session costs $120 per child.

- Once your confirmation email is received mail your completed registration form (or printed copy of email) with a liability waiver and check to:

Location
Classes will be held in Blue Igloo’s kid friendly facility located at 2600 P Street, NW in Georgetown, in the basement of the Jerusalem Baptist Church. The door to the basement is located at the bottom of the steps on 26th street; please be careful on the steps as they can be slippery.
Policies
- A parent or caregiver must attend with each child, and must stay on site the entire class time. Parents/caregivers are required to supervise their child, especially during the Freeplay Fun session.
- For classes (not Freeplay Fun sessions), parents of older children may be able to sit in a separate area, depending on the age range of the class and needs of the child.
- All children who are of an eligible age for a class must be paid registrants if they are going to be in the Blue Igloo space during the class time.
- Any child who displays or has displayed symptoms of sickness within the past 24 hours may not attend class.
- All participants must sign a Blue Igloo Liability Waiver to participate.
- No refunds will be given once the session begins.
- Registration is first-come, first-served.
- Separate forms must be completed for each child.
- Should the class you request be full at the time that your registration is received you will be contacted and may choose to be put on a waitlist or choose an age-appropriate class where space does exist.
- Blue Igloo follows DC Public Schools for weather related closures, and occasionally Blue Igloo will close because of a funeral in the church. Should this happen, you will be notified by email and phone. A voucher will be given for use in one of our Freeplay fun sessions.
